Just as 2015 was a year of excellence, 2016 promises to be even bigger at Church Alive! We believe that the best is yet to

come for you and for the house. We know that God wants to pour greatly into each and every person in this coming year.

We typically start each year with a corporate fast to seek God's heart for the New Year. In the bible the number 8

represents new beginnings. So to kick off 2016 we are starting off with an 8-day fast from January 25-February 1st. We give

God some of our excess so that He can show up in an even greater way! If you are new to the area of fasting, you are

probably wondering what fasting even is.

Simply stated, biblical fasting is refraining from food for a spiritual purpose.

According to the Bible, there are three duties of every Christian: give, pray and fast. Biblical fasting takes a lot of

discipline and strength—strength that you can only receive from God. Your private discipline will bring you rewards in

heaven, says Matthew 6. When you give God your first through fasting, prayer and giving at the beginning of the year you

set the course right for the entire year.

Here are some questions to ask yourself regarding the need to fast:

1.      Are you in need of healing or a miracle?

2.      Do you need the tender touch of God in your life?

3.      Is there a dream inside you that only He can make possible?

4.      Are you in need of a fresh encounter?

5.      Do you desire a deeper, more intimate and powerful relationship with the Lord?

6.      Are you ready to have heightened sensitivity to the desires of God?

7.      Do you need to break away from bondages that have been holding you hostage?

8.      Is there a friend or loved one that needs Salvation?

9.      Do you desire to know God’s will for your life?

There are two options for the first fast of 2016:

1. Sun Up-Sun Down

The fast is exactly what the name entails - abstaining from eating and drinking (except water) from sun up to sun

down each day and making time to seek God's heart for your 2016.

2. Daniel Fast

This fast is basically a vegan diet with slightly more restrictions: only fruits and vegetables, water to drink only,

and no artificial ingredients or sweeteners of any kind. You can learn more about the Daniel Fast

Remember that it is the attitude of a heart sincerely seeking Him to which God responds with a blessing

(Isaiah 58, Jeremiah 14:12, 1 Corinthians 8:8).

We are praying and believing for an amazing fast that will renew your spiritual life and help prepare the house for all that

God will do in 2016! May God greatly bless you as you fast!
